My first year as a Wedding DJ, most of my couples just happened to be in the school system because those were most of the people I knew. I was a behavior counselor in Norfolk Public Schools at the time. I met Melissa (The Bride), who was and still is a school Psychologist in NPS, through another school Teacher whose wedding I DJed at, a few months prior. Ironically, when I met them in person and we started planning their wedding I learned Gaither, the coolest dude you would ever meet, (The Groom), was a behavior counselor as well in the school system. I quickly realized my fellow school workers were all business when it came to Monday- Friday, 8am to 3pm, but on the weekends we lived a different life. Especially on their wedding day. One of my favorite things about their wedding was that Gaither SANG his vows to Melissa!
They really were serious about planning but they wanted to enjoy every moment of their wedding. They wanted to incorporate as much of their family in their wedding as possible. One thing I remember the most is how much they danced together during the reception. They did a lot to give and show love to their guests but they really used the day to have fun with each other. She was from Miami Florida and he was from North Carolina. They incorporated a lot of the music from their places of origin in their playlist they gave me because they knew their family would appreciate it.
