Zach + Alexa | Woman’s Club of Portsmouth | Portsmouth, VA | August

Easy like Sunday morning. This phrase is what comes to mind when I think about this couple. We spent time getting to know each other during their engagement period and they were so easy going and they carried that energy throughout their wedding process and into their wedding day. I was so excited to be the DJ for Alexa & Zach's wedding and to be back at one of my favorite Wedding Venues, The Woman’s Club of Portsmouth! The ceremony began on the back deck of the Woman’s Club, all the guests arrived early and eager to show love to this special couple. The Wedding Planning team from Soirees by Lauren perfectly guided everyone to their seats and lined the wedding party up and then it started to rain! The guests had to rush back inside and we had to prolong the ceremony 30 minutes...we actually had to move our entire DJ Set Up. It was in this moment that I saw the staff of Soirees by Lauren work extremely hard to not only make sure that all of the guests were safely inside, the seats were wiped down right before the ceremony started, but that also the bridal party and most importantly, our bride, was taken care of. Finally, the sun came out and the rain stopped and we were able to start the ceremony.

After the ceremony, we transitioned to the cocktail hour on the front deck of the Woman’s Club and I continued the country, acoustic, pop cover vibes to keep the energy going and keeping everyone in good spirits. The room looked beautiful with floral arrangements by Mann & Wife as well as Chairs & Linens by Waterford (Alyse). Alexa & Zach came out to their reception to Bring Em Out by TI. They came into an excited crowd full of love and immediately had their first dance to I Do (Cherish You) by Mark Wills. While the staff served the cake I opened the floor with some Motown, Country, Pop & Classic Rock and then blended into a 2000’s Hip Hop and Pop set that took the energy through the roof!! It always does!!

When I think about this couple I get a lot of insight on how to have perspective coming into your wedding day, the couple was not at all stressed because they had employed all the right vendors to take care of everything. Their definition of a perfect wedding was simply, "everyone dancing and having a good time!" They made it their number one focus to enjoy every moment on the dance floor with everyone around them just following suit. The bride said: “that’s exactly what we wanted, a big dance party, a big celebration with all of our friends and family and that’s exactly what we got!” One of the bridesmaids let me know that Alexa was extremely good at the new line dance"the Git Up" and that if I played it she would lead it and everyone would follow and that is exactly what happened and everyone was on the dance floor having the best time.

This party was definitely one for the books. I ended the night with one of my absolute favorite country songs “Wanted” By Hunter Hayes. What a beautiful and fun wedding!! Thank you, Alexa & Zach!! I will never forget this wedding!
